Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's....a blog post?!

Blimey, been a while. Apologies to my loyal readers (anyone?!) for my prolonged absence. Unfortunately, everything fun has taken a backseat over the last few months, primarily due to my University finals, moving flats, and then being unemployed and chasing every vacancy sign in a 20 mile radius. Blasted recession.

Being unemployed absolutely sucks btw. I have less money now than when I was a student, the government isn't dishing me out free cash, and I feel like an utter scrounger despite not even claiming jobseekers. Luckily my other half was able to find a job and is doing well, so heads are above water for the time being.

Of course, the obvious upside of being unemployed is that I have plenty of free time. And that has given me a chance to catch up on a lot of gaming that was put aside over the exam period. I confess that I have yet to play any more Prince of Persia, instead filling my time with Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 and lots and lots of Halo Wars.

What? Fallout 3?! After he attacked it so harshly just a few months ago?! Surely not!

Ok fine, I confess, I was wrong. What a bloody brilliant game. Once you get past the first 5 hours where you shoot like a ponce, melee like a ponce, talk like a ponce and act, generally, like a total and utter ponce, the game simply shifts gears and propels you into this brilliant, immersive adventure. Having purchased all the DLC I've had an utterly brill time playing it my character ended up as a lv30 Jesus-like figure of goodness....but there's always next playthough....mwahaha.

Also been playing Halo Wars online a lot. There are some really.....'skilled'......RTS players out there, even on the xbox 360. Well, I assume it's considered 'skillful' to rush people and end the game before anyone's ever had a chance to build anything right? I'd personally use a different word...but all those 'skilled' people are top of the leaderboards, so whatever.

Star Ocean also took a lot of my time. I'll probably write a full review for GameOn at some point, so I'll make sure to link it up here when I do.

Other than that, usual stints on Gears 2, Halo 3 and Battlefield 1943 have also featured. What an awesome game that is, 1200 points and you get good old fashioned balanced gaming, totally lag free and fun beyond all measure. If only I could master the flight controls....I suck in the planes. Good thing I'm decent with a rifle or it could be embarrassing.

Ah well, back to surfing the recruitment sites I guess.
